Wake Up! Summer's Here!

It will be a new moon on Sunday 4th August, symbolising new beginnings and opportunities. Think gardening by the moon when new moons are a good time to plant seeds and full moon producing harvests. The stirring of new energy can lead us into taking even small steps to start up a project or begin to visualise what our next steps might be. Creativity in movement of energy whether it’s inwards or outwards is beckoning at this time. Our feelings may be mixed both wanting to do something and wanting to be still.

Find that space inside you, give yourself time to reflect and connect to yourself and your desires. Give yourself permission to be playful. How might that look? Consider alternatives to how you might normally go through your day. Can it become a more joyful experience? Food shopping, life admin and sometimes the work we do can feel something to get through. How about making it into a moment of interest or fun? Every minute we do that, perhaps shop elsewhere, do life admin in a café or reminding yourself of what led you to the job or career you are in at the moment can bring about a new perspective and with it a more engaged way of being.

Give yourself new directions both literally and metaphorically. I am going to walk a different way to the station, I am noticing how I sit at the table, so I am going to adjust the height of my chair, the screen of my laptop. I am going to change up my thoughts of how I am perceiving something troubling. Create newness in the little things...

Make a list of those little things:

Watch the willow leaves trailing,

the bark on a birch

someone's sunhat

the sun glancing off the window

the light from a glow worm

phosphorescence in the sea

the constantly shifting patterns in the clouds

woodland fragrances

the snap of a twig underfoot

a kind face of a passer by

storybook dogs

the mother and child on the side of the Radcliffe

the angel on top of Keble college

the warmth of terracotta in the evening sun

the cabbage white, uplifting in its volitant energy
